Tim is a specialist personal injury and clinical negligence barrister who acts primarily for claimants. Born and educated in Liverpool, Tim studied law at Oxford University. After completing his professional qualification in London, he joined Chambers in 1993. He is a keen swimmer, cyclist and runner, and has variously enjoyed and endured many marathons and triathlons, including 3 ironman events.

Tim practises in public liability, employers’ liability (including industrial disease/occupational illness) and road traffic litigation. He is regularly instructed in high value cases involving serious personal injury or arising from fatal accidents. He has substantial experience of claims relating to accidents at work, sporting injuries, assaults, highways, defective premises, foreign holidays, hair and cosmetic treatments, animals, prisons, care homes and educational settings. His industrial disease/occupational illness work involves noise-induced hearing loss, dermatological complaints, stress at work, manual handling injuries, respiratory conditions including those caused by asbestos exposure, and work-related upper limb disorders including hand-arm vibration syndrome. Usually in the context of historic diseases, but occasionally in other personal injury claims, Tim undertakes advisory and oral advocacy work in relation to limitation issues. He is also frequently consulted with regard to a wide variety of procedural issues.
Clinical Negligence
Complementing his personal injury practice, Tim’s clinical negligence work involves claims against a range of medical practitioners. He has particular experience in claims relating to surgical errors, mismanagement of eating disorders, negligent prescribing and delayed diagnosis of injuries and disorders including DVT and cancer.
