Christin Kirchhuebel delivers legal workshop on Intellectual Property and AI
Legal workshop discussing Intellectual Property, Language learning Models, AI and Copyright.
Intellectual Property Rights and Large Language Models
Large Language Models (LLMs) are the core of the technology underlying ChatGPT and other AI applications. LLMs prompt new questions around Intellectual Property (IP): what is the IP status of the datasets used to train LLMs, the resulting LLMs themselves, and their outputs? The training needs of LLMs may be at odds with current copyright law, and there are active conversations around the ownership of their outputs. Christin Kirchhuebel (pupil barrister) gave a talk on this topic at a workshop on Legal and Ethical Issues in Human Language Technologies held on 20 May 2024 in Turin, Italy.
