Tenancy and recruitment

Chambers understands that in order to continue to thrive, it needs to select the very best candidates from the widest possible pool.

Tenancy

As part of its policy of expansion, Atlantic Chambers is looking to recruit established practitioners of at least five years’ call, in the fields of Family, Civil, Chancery and Commercial and Employment.

Applications from practitioners of under five years’ call are also positively encouraged and will be considered in exceptional circumstances. Solicitors looking to transfer to the Bar with PQE will also be considered.

All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. Applications should be addressed to Charles Prior, marked private and confidential.

Pupillage

Atlantic Chambers encourage applications for pupillage from exceptional candidates, with an interest in practising in all areas of law. The policy of Atlantic Chambers is to take pupils only with a view to the subsequent grant of a tenancy.

In the latest round of pupillage recruitment we offer £30,000.00 made up of £12,000.00 during the first six months and guaranteed earnings of £18,000.00 during the second six months.

We are recruiting for four pupils in the following areas:

  • Chancery Law – one pupillage –  encompasses all aspects of Business & Property work, including Property, Trusts and Probate, Landlord and Tenant, Insolvency, Company and Partnerships and Commercial.
  • Civil Law – two pupillages – encompassing all aspect of Civil Litigation including Personal Injury.
  • Family Law – one pupillage – encompassing all aspects of Family and Child Law

Atlantic Chambers only offers pupillage, subject to authorisation to do so by the Bar Standards Board, and is not liable in any event, if it did not retain authorisation to offer pupillage.

Ultimately, Atlantic Chambers strives to ensure that every pupillage provides solid foundations for those interested in building a long and successful career at the Bar. We are proud of our history including distinguished past members such as the current Senior Presiding Judge for England and Wales, Lord Justice Edis, and the recent past President of the Queen’s Bench Division, Sir Brian Leveson. However, we look forward to recruiting the next generation of talent who are keen to join a friendly, supportive and ambitious chambers.

Based on past experience all junior tenants can expect to earn comfortably more than £60,000 per annum on average in the first 3 years of practice
